Private Lessons
My teaching philosophy:
As a teacher, I have previously served teaching positions for the International School of Music and the Vivace Strings Academy. Currently, I am teaching at the University of Maryland Baltimore County through a joint program with the Peabody Institute.
I also maintain a private cello studio where I encourage enthusiasm, positive goal-setting, and rational problem-solving with my students. As an advocate for healthy principles, I seek to help my students incorporate the following ideas into their music experience:
1) Being a good person is more important than being a perfect musician.
2) Try to learn something from every performance you listen to, no matter where it is, who is playing, or what is being played.
3) Never perform for others with anything less than your absolute best.
4) Always aim to be better than you were the previous day rather than to be better than someone else.
5) Seek inspiration from all musical genres and art forms; everything has a relationship and it's up to you to connect the dots.
Testimonials
"Alex is an incredible musician and excellent teacher. His love of music shines through his lessons and his enthusiasm made my son want to learn more and push himself harder. His attention and support lead to my son gaining confidence as a musician and I would highly recommend Alex as a teacher."

"Alex inspired our kids to keep playing through COVID-19 and his lessons allowed them to be ahead of their peers when school resumed. Alex was instrumental in our daughter making advanced orchestra and in our son successfully auditioning for the level 2 high school concert orchestra."
— EF, Saint Louis, Missouri
“Alex was very involved in my son’s music learning process. He was flexible, attentive, and was considerate to what I was looking for as a parent. He was also responsible for helping my son prepare an audition for his local youth orchestra, for which he was selected.
